Announcements

Announcements are important messages from your instructor. Depending on how your instructor has designed the course, you will find these located in the Course Navigation on the left side of the screen. Your instructor may also choose to have course Announcements fed directly onto the front page of the course.

The Canvas announcements page.

Here you will find a list of all the announcements for your course. They are sorted with the newest announcement at the top. To view, simply click the title of the announcement.

  • The Unread buttonUnread Filter - clicking this will show you only the announcements you haven't read

  • The RSS iconRSS Subscribe - you can add your announcement feed to your personal RSS reader. If you would like to learn how to do this see here Links to an external site. for instructions. 

  • The unread/total replies icon displaying 3 unread replies and 3 total repliesshows unread/total replies to the announcement.

 

Replying to Announcements 

Once you click on the Announcement Link in the Announcement Index you will be able to view the entire announcement. To reply to an announcement, click the reply button, type your reply in the text box and click post reply. 

The location of the Reply button, which is located under the Announcement content and all other Announcement buttons but before the list of replies.The location of the "Post Reply" button in the Rich Content Editor. The button is located in the bottom-right corner of the Rich Content Editor.
