Join Stephanie Leeper and Lindsey Schuhmacher for a community of practice dedicated to career-connected and community-engaged learning! Explore strategies for infusing curriculum with career-related skills and experiences that bolster student success and transfer to their professional lives. Discover how community-engaged learning (CEL) can increase student engagement, help them apply skills, and provide them with networking opportunities. Learn how these approaches are connected to culturally responsive teaching and universal design for learning (UDL). Share ideas and resources from your own classes and get inspired by colleagues! Meet industry and community partners and see examples from various disciplines.

Adjunct Faculty will receive a stipend of $800 upon completion. Full time faculty are eligible to apply for 20 hours of PPAC (1 full credit) upon completion.

Meet your Facilitators:

Stephanie Leeper:

Stephanie is Clark's Career-Connected Curriculum Liaison. She works with Clark faculty, staff, and local employers and partners to connect students with opportunities to enrich their career readiness through work-based learning opportunities. Stephanie is creating a virtual career hub that will connect Clark students with employers for experiential learning and career exploration. Stephanie worked for several years at Washington State University, where she planned orientations, career fairs, experiential learning programs, and developed business connections and employment engagement. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fur baby Murphy, brunching with friends, and finding new wineries in the area.

Lindsey Schuhmacher:

Lindsey is the Program Manager of the Teaching and Learning Center and has over 16 years of college teaching experience, including 10 years in the Clark English department and 3.5 years as an instructional designer on the Clark eLearning team. Lindsey is also the creator of the community-engaged learning Capstone "Embracing Size Diversity" at Portland State University and has been facilitating community-engaged learning experiences and leading student advocacy projects there since 2016. Lindsey has been married for 18 years (say what?!), and is a mom of 3 beautiful boys. She loves Star Trek, Agatha Christie novels, hot cups of tea, and watching Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, and Kamal Miller play soccer.
