Welcome to Week Four!

For this week we will read Chapter Four in the Give Me Liberty! textbook. This chapter focuses on slavery in the British colonies and examines topics like the brutal nature of the institution of slavery, the economic role of slavery in different colonial regions, and the emergence of a distinctive African-American culture.

For Week Four we will have two major assignments:

(1) The Week Four Quiz based on the readings from Chapter Four. The deadline for taking the quiz is 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17th; you may work on the quiz at any time before this. You will find the quiz in the folder marked "4.2 InQuizitive: Chapter Four." The InQuizitive quizzes allow you to keep answering questions until you acquire enough points for a 100%. Just be sure to complete the quiz by 11:00 pm on Sunday.

(2) The Discussion for Week Four is made up of an initial post, due by no later than 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17th and at least two replies to the initial posts of other students, due by no later than 11:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18th. You may submit your posts any time before these deadlines. If you would like to make more than two replies, responding to any part of the discussion, please feel free to do so! To get started on the discussion, go to the folder marked "4.3 Week Four Discussion," and follow the instructions there.

Just a reminder that the second book report on The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano is due in Week Eight. You can find information on this assignment in the folder marked "8.3 Second Book Report." I would recommend that you get started with the reading on this fascinating book as soon as possible.
